Important Update on
Summer Camp & Programming

We’re all looking forward to the warmer weather and long days of summer, and we wanted to update you on some shifting summer plans at Compass Point.

We loved hosting our community outreach events last summer and thought that the Neighbourhood Fun Fair and Outdoor Movie Night were highlights. As we’ve considered how we can best connect with and serve our local community, we want to continue experimenting with how we can Embody Jesus in our neighbourhood.

We’ve made the hard decision to not run a week-long, half-day summer kids camp this summer like we have in the past, and instead are planning on offering weekly family and kid’s events in the evenings, accessible to both those in our church and the larger community. We are hoping to broaden the scope of our connections and influence. While there have been so many good memories made at CPKidz Camp, we feel like this is the right season to make a shift and lean into our value of creativity over comfort as we experiment with something new. We trust that there will be many good memories made in this new opportunity too!

We understand that not having a week of Kids camp will be disappointing to many, including those who already have our previously published dates on their calendars. We apologize for the inconvenience of this change, but are excited for the opportunities ahead. We hope that you will join us in this new endeavour as we gather throughout the summer. More details to follow, and we’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in serving at our community events with us!

I am new to this whole church thing? How do I know my child will be safe?

Safety is so important to us. And we see this play out in many ways.

  • Background checks, screening and training are all mandatory elements of our leader training. And more than that our leaders know how to connect so that your child feels safe and that they belong.
  • Our environments are child friendly, appropriate and fun places kids want to be!
  • We have a secure drop off and pick up process the insures that kids are only released back to the care of those that signed them in that day.
  • Informing us of any medical information we need to know about your child when you sign them in is also requested.
What will my child be doing?

It is important to us that all our environments are developmentally and interest appropriate for those students that are within them. With that, all of our environments differ slightly from each other. However they all have this format in common – Social/Unstructured Time, Teaching/Worship Time, Connecting/Small Group Time. Wherever your child finds themselves in CPKidz, we know they will have FUN!

My child may need some extra support their first few weeks, what should I do?

Tell us! We would love to be able to come along side you, and make this transition smooth as possible for everyone in your family. This may mean connecting them with another student they may know, connecting your family with their leader, or even having you join in on the fun with them! We also have a paging system, so if your child needs you for any reason, we will be able to reach to you promptly.
