Youth

Youth At Compass Point

At Compass Point we value our role in the lives of young people. With a deep desire to help youth navigate the challenges of the teen years and high school we have partnered with Young Life (CP/YL) to engage them in meaningful mentoring and leadership that meets them where they are in life and faith.

Through a mentoring relationship with their “leader” each young person is connected to someone who not only sees them at our CP/YL nights but also makes time to see them in their world. Our CP/YL leaders not only connect with our young people, but they also encourage them to follow Jesus.

What Does Young Life Look Like?

Grades 9-12

Young Life

Young Life is for high school students between grades 9-12. Our staff and volunteers walk alongside students as they navigate the complexities of high school and model for them through mentoring relationships what it means to follow Christ and to make him known.

Grades 6-8

Wyldlife

WyldLife is Young Life programming for students in junior high (grades 6-8). It operates in a similar manner to Young Life, expect that it only meets once a week on Friday nights. The schedule rotates between having Campaigners one week and Club the next.

Learn About Capernaum

Capernaum gives young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the chance to experience fun and adventure, to develop fulfilling friendships, and to challenge their limits while building self-esteem.

In Burlington, Capernaum is combined with Young Life and WyldLife (depending on the student’s age) and participates with them in their regular programming.

Each Capernaum student is paired with a “buddy,” a friend who will stick with them throughout the evening to ensure that they are feeling comfortable and getting the attention that is required.

What Are Campaigners?

Is weekly time spent for leaders and youth to gather in a smaller group to grow in faith, learning how to love others well and discuss leadership and preparation for Club (yes, there is also food..)

What Is Club?

Is a night that is faith-filled yet welcoming and accepting to every person who walks in with Jesus as the centre, or as we like to say it is a “party with a purpose.”

We provide the space for our students to get a chance to hear who God is but in a way, they can understand and relate to, add in come games, music all followed up with time spent building community at a local food venue?? (of course, there is food).
