Transport for Christ Update
Zambia
The Zambian borders are all open again, although many are operating with reduced hours, so the waiting lines of trucks continue to grow at each crossing. Our chaplains still must maintain safety regulations, but God continues to open doors for great things to happen.
While talking with a group of drivers in the Copperbelt region, Chaplain Joshua was encouraging them regarding priorities. Many drivers, especially men in Africa, become drivers not only because of the money that it provides for their families, but also for the “freedom” it allows them while they are away from home.
Joshua was challenging them about this temporary pleasure verses eternal life, and he called for a time of repentance among the drivers there. 11 of the drivers gave their lives to Christ that afternoon.
Brazil
Ministry is continuing in both port cities in Brazil. The city of Imbituba was shut down twice due to COVID-19 but has been reopened and the drivers have returned. The last week of September Driver André came to the chapel for help, as he was struggling with a drug addiction and his job was in jeopardy. He spent much of that day talking with Chaplain Claudonir, and admitted that, although he had grown up in a Christian home, he had never had any interest in God.
By the end of that day André had accepted Christ as his Saviour and had entered into a support relationship with one of the ministry volunteers.
They talk and pray daily as André seeks to conquer his addiction with God’s help.
