I was once asked by someone small
Is God real? I don’t see Him at all?
Great question I thought, a tough one no doubt.
If God is real, why doesn’t He shout?
Shout “I’m here!” so all can see.
Shout “I’m real!” right at me.
Then I will know, and have no doubt.
But I’m here wondering, what it’s all about.

God, give me eyes to see where you are.
Are you near or are you far?
Draw me close, more close than a blink.
I want to know you’re closer than I think.
Awaken all of me, to know you’re real.
Transform how I think and what I feel.

I can ask these hard things and let them show.
I don’t have to hold it all in, I can let it all go.
See, we’ve all felt this way, no one is left out.
Thats why together as one will you shout?
Shout “I see Him!” so all will grow
Shout “He is real!” so all will know

I have confidence in what I have heard,
but there will be times my eyes will get blurred
But I put my trust in you, even when I can’t see,
that every day you’re still thinking of me.
I will trust you’re close through the darkest of night,
guiding me through, just like a bright light.
Holding us together like a knot and a rope,
I can sing and be glad, because I have hope!

From this truth I will not part—
That when I can’t trace your hand, I can still trust your heart.
